The new line of May Berlin Grand pianos included: The new May Berlin’s were made with several top quality German parts and materials. These newly revamped May Berlin pianos were very well received in the piano community. Schimmel’s solution to this resulted in a partnership with an offshore factory, and the reintroduction of the May Berlin brand. The intention of this second line was to offer high quality upright and grand pianos with high quality German parts at a more approachable price point than their top tier Schimmel brand. In the early 2000s, Schimmel sought out to offer a 2nd line of pianos to their brand. After the closure, Schimmel retained ownership of the May brand, designs, and factory equipment. Schimmel carried on production of upright and grand pianos in the May factory Berlin factory until the 1990s when they finally (like many other manufacturers over the years) closed their doors. Schimmel went on to purchase the Berlin factory in the early 1970s. ![]() May Klavier of Berlin, like many other high end European piano manufacturers is a somewhat obscure brand here in the US, but very much recognized in Europe for their world class instruments.Īfter several decades (nearly a century) of production, May started a relationship with Schimmel as a supplier of piano parts for their production. ![]()
